Internet Safety

At Thornhill Junior and Infant School, we feel that the benefits that pupils receive from access to the internet far exceed the disadvantages. We believe that a combination of site filtering, close supervision and fostering a responsible attitude in our pupils, in partnership with parents, will ensure children's safety when using these resources.

We teach all children in school about Internet Safety in the ICT and PHSCE curriculum. Our children and staff all sign an Acceptable Use Policy for ICT and we expect them to adhere to these rules in line with our behaviour policy. We have held Internet Safety information evenings and training sessions for parents. We also take part in Safer Internet Day each February as part of a school-wide initiative to raise the profile of Internet Safety, both at home and in school.

Below are some websites, giving information to parents about how to keep your child safe on the Internet at home. We have also included some websites for children, which contain games and information about Internet Safety.

If you would like any further information or you would like another copy of our Acceptable Use Policy, please feel free to contact Mrs Walker via the school office.
